Dr.Rana MAHMOUD

Rana holds a PhD from Ghent University, specialising in building stock decarbonization, low-carbon emissions and efficient building design, alongside professional experience as an architect and interior designer in Europe and the MENA region. With over 16 years of expertise, Rana has guided her clients in the transition towards net-zero emissions and circularity in the real estate sector.

Rana has founded Eco Narrate, a consultancy dedicated to helping the real estate sector transition to sustainable, net-zero operations. Eco Narrate offers a suite of services, including future-proof real estate decarbonization strategies, ESG due diligence, and circularity assessments. A central mission of Eco Narrate is to coach and raise awareness in the industry to bridge the skills gap in ESG talent, promoting long-term relationships and impactful change.

In previous roles as a sustainability leader at Deloitte, Rana developed and delivered strategies that integrate ESG principles into corporate and asset-level decision-making. She has collaborated extensively with stakeholders across real estate, public policy, and academia to drive forward-thinking ESG practices in built environments.

As an experienced lecturer and public speaker, Rana has been invited to share insights on sustainability, ESG, and the future of real estate with diverse audiences, including at KU Leuven, industry unions, and prominent real estate organizations. Known for her engaging and insightful approach, Rana adeptly conveys complex concepts in a clear, accessible way that resonates with professionals and industry leaders across sectors.

Rana is also passionate about interior design, believing that well-designed spaces enhance user comfort, productivity, and energy efficiency. Rana advocates for teaching sustainable practices for kindergarten classes through her initiative "Changer l’histoire pour la jeune génération".

Outside of professional commitments, Rana enjoys painting, journaling, and spending quality time with family.
